Before Requesting an Estimate

Please include the following information:

  • Property address
  • Total property square footage (see instructions below)
  • Whether your backyard is fenced
  • If fenced, the gate opening must be at least 43 inches wide

Important: I no longer use a push mower. If my riding mower cannot access your backyard through the gate, I will be unable to mow that area.

Preparing for Your Scheduled Service

To help ensure a safe and efficient mowing service, please:

  • Remove toys, tools, hoses, decorations, pet items, trash, and other loose objects from the yard.
  • Remove ropes, chains, extension cords, and similar items.
  • Pick up pine cones before your appointment.
  • Secure all pets indoors or in a safe area before service begins.

Yard Cleanup

I will gladly move a few small items at no additional charge.

If your yard contains excessive debris that must be picked up before mowing, a cleanup fee of $24.00 per hour (1-hour minimum) will apply.

Customer Responsibility: I am not responsible for damage to personal property left in the yard that is struck by mowing equipment.

Service Area

  • Service is generally completed within 48 hours, weather and workload permitting.
  • I currently service properties within 20 miles of ZIP Code 31501.
  • A travel charge may apply for locations beyond 20 miles.

Minimum Service Charge: $20.00

How to Get an Instant Price Estimate

The quickest way to receive an estimate is to measure your property using Google Maps.

Measure Your Property

  1. Go to maps.google.com.
  2. Enter your property address.
  3. Zoom in until your property is clearly visible.
  4. Right-click one corner of your property and select Measure distance.
  5. Click around the entire property until the outline is complete.
  6. Google Maps will display the Total Area in square feet.

Example:

If Google Maps shows 10,926 square feet, simply include 10,926 in your email when requesting an estimate.

Obstacles & Additional Charges

Pricing assumes a reasonably open yard.

Properties requiring significant extra trimming may incur an additional charge of $0.50 per obstacle.

Examples include:

  • Numerous trees
  • Bushes and shrubs
  • Flower beds
  • Landscape borders
  • Signs
  • Fire hydrants
  • Outdoor furniture
  • Parked vehicles
  • Wood piles
  • Debris piles
  • Playground equipment
  • Decorative features
  • Other objects requiring additional trimming

Included at No Extra Charge

Standard trimming around:

  • Your home
  • Fence lines
  • One or two trees
  • Normal residential landscaping

Cleanup

After mowing, I will use a blower to remove grass clippings from:

  • Driveways
  • Sidewalks
  • Patios (if accessible)
  • The street in front of your property

Grass clippings will be blown back onto the lawn whenever practical. This naturally returns nutrients to the soil and helps promote a healthier lawn.

Mowing Height

The shortest mowing height I offer is 3 inches. Maintaining your lawn at this height helps keep it healthier, greener, and more resistant to weeds and drought.

Why Don’t I Cut It Shorter?

Many homeowners believe cutting grass shorter means mowing less often, but the opposite is often true. Cutting grass too short can weaken your lawn and create long-term problems.

A taller lawn helps:

  • Develop deeper, stronger roots
  • Retain moisture during hot weather
  • Reduce weed growth by shading the soil
  • Protect the soil from drying out
  • Produce a thicker, healthier-looking lawn
  • Reduce stress on the grass during the summer

For these reasons, I do not mow lower than 3 inches.

Bare Spots and Thin Lawns

If your yard has bare spots, exposed soil, or thin grass, it may have been caused by mowing too short, drought, heavy foot traffic, poor soil conditions, or a lack of nutrients.

An Affordable Repair Option

You can often improve these areas yourself without spending a lot of money.

  1. Purchase a few bags of topsoil.
  2. Buy grass seed that is appropriate for your area.
  3. Fill low spots and smooth the soil with a rake.
  4. Spread the grass seed according to the package directions.
  5. Apply a starter fertilizer if recommended.
  6. Keep the area consistently moist until the new grass becomes established.

Soil pH and Lime

Sometimes the problem isn’t the grass—it’s the soil.

If your soil is too acidic, grass may struggle to grow even with fertilizer and water. Applying lawn lime according to the manufacturer’s instructions can help restore a healthier soil pH and improve growing conditions.

If you’re unsure whether your lawn needs lime, I can evaluate the condition of your lawn for an additional consultation fee.

When Sod May Be the Best Option

If large sections of your lawn are dead or heavily damaged, installing sod provides the fastest results. While it is more expensive than seeding, it creates an established lawn almost immediately when properly watered and maintained.

Watering Your Lawn

Consistent watering is one of the most important factors in maintaining a healthy lawn.

I recommend installing an automatic sprinkler timer so your lawn can be watered on a regular schedule.

For best results:

  • Water early in the morning or overnight.
  • Avoid watering during the hottest part of the day, when much of the water evaporates before reaching the roots.
  • Water deeply and less frequently to encourage deeper root growth.

A healthy lawn starts with proper mowing, good soil, regular watering, and routine maintenance.
